SQU: Jay Roberts

SQU is a new series of interviews where we ask scene-stars more than your usual pick of questions about their life. We cover love, politics, belief and more…asking them questions which show you another side of the person you thought you know so well! This time we catch up with international porn star Jay Roberts.

Originally born in a small town in Slovakia, Jay made his way to London by emailing naked photos to all the right people.

Jay Roberts on the gay club scene is best known for his involvement with the Friday night club PLAY TIME. Bringing a touch of porn to Friday night clubbing, PLAYTIME won SeenQueens.com BEST WEEKLY CLUB and BEST NEW BRAND 2001 awards. It has also toured parts of Europe with more on the way. SQU: THE INTERVIEW.

1. ON LOVE- Do you believe in ‘love at first sight’?

I don’t really know. It depends on when “first sight” is. I fall in love with sexy pictures online all the time, but I do want to meet a man before really saying I’m in love. One guy sent this gorgeous muscular picture, convinced me to meet him, have hot sweaty sex (a few times) and it’s been over two years that we’ve been together, and maybe it did start with the picture. ?

2. ON PHYSICAL APPEARANCE- What is your best physical feature? And a feature you would like to be different?

These are really tough questions. Why don’t you ask me about porn or sex, that’s easier :-) With all modesty, I like my cock and eyes. I was blessed with a good cock size and shape. As for my eyes, many people tell me it’s rare to see dark features like mine on a guy with light eyes, so I guess I won’t disagree.

What do I want to be different? I guess I wish I could be more extroverted. Believe it or not, I don’t usually dress with so few clothes that you can see my nut sack, but I think I would like to do that more often, maybe put on more of my favorite “Stick It Up” tight clothing and show off. But, so many people think that porn stars are only cock and ass that I do want people to get to know me. I have a degree in marketing and have spent many years in the field. I have a lot of great ideas and I’m very proud of the vision that has so far been a big success for me.

3. ON FANTASY- If you could have dinner with any three people (living or dead) who would they be and why?

The sweet little boy in me would like to see my grandmum again. She raised me to be the man I am now and I never got the chance to say thank you.

I think she would really like to meet Madonna, like me, so it would be great to have her too. She is such a determined woman and whatever you think of her, bad or good, you have to admit she knows how to move masses of people and keep reinventing herself. I would love to learn from her.

I guess while those two are chatting, I would also like to invite Alexander Graham Bell. I would like to open my door, welcome him in, thank him for inventing the phone so that none of us can go 28 seconds without communication and then drop a bottle of red wine on him.

“…but as a porn star and a guy who loves to see almost naked men on the dance floor every week, I think I am more comfortable with a law that gives all men free gym memberships and forces them to go at least three times a week….”

4. SELF AWARENESS- What ‘saying’ would define who you are a person and why do you think this?

There are a few great Slovakian sayings, but do you have enough Slovakian readers for me to use those quotes?

5. POLITCS- The Healthcare System…better to be privatized or part of public care?

It depends. When I have a really bad cold and I want to see the doctor quickly for medicine, I’m glad to live in a place with public healthcare. That time I got the two dildos stuck in my ass and had to go to hospital to have them removed, I wasn’t as happy. A little more privacy would have been nice.

The dildo thing is a joke obviously. Never happened to me. Nothing like the real thing, right Brent?

6. METAPHYSICS- If there was one universal law you could pass across all of Earth, what law would that be and why?

I think you want me to say something like I would abolish war or give everyone equal amounts of food, but as a porn star and a guy who loves to see almost naked men on the dance floor every week, I think I am more comfortable with a law that gives all men free gym memberships and forces them to go at least three times a week.

7. TRAVELS- What are your three favorite cities?

Right now? London, Paris and Madrid because only they all have PLAY>TIME!

8. SPECULATION- Is there life on other planets?

Wow, you really ask the tough questions. Can I phone a university professor before answering? I’m not a scientist, but yes, I do think there is life out there somewhere, but I don’t know what kind. Maybe there are more human kind of me men and we can all have more to choose from for a great shag, a new lover or even the man of our dreams.

9. RELIGION- The BIBLE, fact or fiction?

I do not like any religion that tells me what is a sin, what I’m doing wrong or what they think I should do to live a better life. I think we all should make our own decisions and live with the consequences. If someone’s Bible says I am going to hell for all time because I fucked a guy on film so lots of people could be happy watching, I guess I don’t believe it’s all true.

Then again, Sodom and Gomorrah sound like lots of fun, so maybe part of it is true. Where are they again?

10. SEX- What mostly turns you on most about another man?

The same things don’t turn me on with every guy. Yes, if I see a tall, handsome guy with a great body walking towards me, I might look for a few extra seconds, but in order for me to keep looking and get to know him, I need a guy who likes adventure, who has goals, who likes to be silly and have fun. I won’t say I don’t love a huge cock and a butt I can bite my way into, but we have to be able to do something other than have sex, right?

SQU: Minty

In our continuation with catching up with high profile scene-stars and taking them down a interview road all not to familiar, for SQU we caught up with the ever popular Queen of the Disco, Minty. In this interview we find out a little about about her clubbing life, ask what she thinks of the EU and ask what would she do if she ruled the world.

SQ: On her past….

MINTY: I worked for an event company, heading up the team. Everything from Madonnas birthday party, album launches-Pulp, Coolio, East 17, lunch for Lady Di….I then ran my own bar for a while.  As I was a licensee Wayne Shires employed me as assistant manager and/or stock controller sporadically. When he asked me to take the money at the door a monster was created! I worked on all his parties- Giant, Universe, The Cock. There was also Sleaze, the men only night for the wonderful Spike Rhodes. Once people know you they seem to want you, Shadow Lounge, DTPM, Punk, Matinee…and of course Orange Nation!

SQ: on Love…Do You Believe In Love At First Sight?

MINTY: Lust at first sight is far more common than love! But I do believe in it,for the lucky few.

SQ: on Politics…What Do You Think of The European Union?

MINTY: Bollocks to the EU!

SQ: on Power…If You Were The Queen of the Earth, What 3 Laws Would You Pass?

MINTY: What a terrifying thought! I have no desire to rule over people or pass laws. However…Don’t concentrate on what you can get, think about what you can give. In the words of Sai Baba,”Love all,Serve all”.

SQ: on ADMIRATION…IF You Could Invite Any Three People For Dinner (Living or Dead) Who Would They Be?

1. Billy Idol. I’ve wanted that man since I was about 14 and I see no reason why I can’t have him. 2. My Dad. A brilliant raconteur, dangerously charismatic, and I miss him. 3. Keef Richards. The Man. (Keef Richards is also know as Keith Richards also know as one of the founding members of the band The Rolling Stones)

SQ: on Sex…Monogamy, What Is It?

MINTY: Monogamy not only works for some people but some are lucky enough to never want anyone else. Should it be propounded as the true way to live? No. Nothing should. Each to their own. Respect, honesty and love are what matter.

SQ: on HUMANITY…What Are The Humans Race Best Three Qualities?

1: Our creativity. 2: Our incredible diversity 3: Our ability to survive the greatest traumas, on an individual level.

..and our worst?

.1:The belief some people have that they, and only they, are right. None of us is God (for want of a better word), so if we want the right to live as we choose, we have to allow that right to others. In the words of Martin Luther King”If I’m not free-you’re not free”. 2: Territorialism. You can’t own the land you stand on.  3: the fact that we allow governments and corporations to play with human life.

SQ: on WAR, What is is Good For?

MINTY: Absolutely Nothing!

SQ: on MUSIC…What Three Tunes Best Describe You?

MINTY: 1. Mony Mony:Billy Idol. “Here she comes now….”My perfume’s strong enough to smell me coming,my jewellery jangles so you can hear me coming….and I’ve got lots of energy. 2. Tenderness is a Weakness:Marc Almond. The constant struggle I have between having the courage to be vulnerable and feeling the need to protect myself. 3. My Way: Frank Sinatra. Needs no explanation really. If I end every day believing I’ve done no harm to the world or anyone in it,I can sleep in peace with a clear conscience. N.B Strive to accept, not merely tolerate.

THE MINTY MIX:

In continuation of Brent Nicholls versus well know scene-stars, we also asked Minty for a collection of tracks that she would play if she was the DJ. We then took 10 of those tracks, got Brent to mix them and came up with  DJ BRENT NICHOLLS VS MINTY- THE MINTY MIX.

Brent says about the mix…”it was a challenge. Minty selected many tracks that did not have house beats, so we had to compromise with a few remixes we found that incorporated her choices. She also chose quite a few house tunes too which have also been added. Her taste range over a 10 year period and I remember her going off to these tracks at the old Beyond in the VIP room which she ruled.  Her other house choices were remixes of old rock records, in fact the ten tracks selected definitely have a rock feel somewhat reflecting, what I think, is Minty’s Rock-Chic image. Admittedly some of the tracks would not fit together well, so there was some fiddling about…but the end result is one I ‘ve got to say really hooks you in with a catchy, sexy and sometimes dirty vibe…just like our Minty….”

SQU: Paul Beardshaw

SQU is a new interview feature on Seen Queen that talks to well known seen-stars and ask them questions that are of a more political, spiritual, emotional and personal nature. The aim is to get a depth to those people we know and see, may have our own impression of, but in fact know very little about. The aim isn’t to glorify what they do, but find out who is doing it. Within the era of the iGeneration, this is all about U.

Our first SQU interview is with Paul Beardshaw. Many of you will know him from Profile and Lo Profile where he is currently part of the management team. He moved to London 18 years ago and worked for Gaydar’s marketing department for 7 of those years before working for the venues.

We asked him questions on 5 areas: Politics, Humanity, Belief, Love and Change.

1. POLITICS: On the war in Libya…was the west right to go in?

West claimed the intervention was to halt the attacks by Libyan Armed Forces on civilians which in theory is a good thing. In Central Africa we’ve seen what happens when a country turns on it’s own people. The results are catastrophic and should never be allowed. But NATO’s “No fly zone” may have been better titled “Keep your planes on the ground while we fire missiles at every building that Gaddaffi has been seen visiting in the last five years”. Is that right?

2. HUMANITY: If human existence depended on you presenting to an invading alien force our three best qualities, what would they be and why did you choose those three qualities?

The hippie in me would say “We have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of the universe, we strive for democracy and we are capable of loving and compassion”. But the realist in me knows that if I said that we would probably survive but as slaves. So I would call NATO and ask for an emergency “No fly zone” around the alien fleet.

3. BELIEF: Is there life after death?

There is no way for any living being to determine whether there is life after death, because it cannot be experienced by the living. The thought that part of us lives on in another form after our body expires must be a very comforting thought for a lot of people but I am a pragmatist and there is no scientific proof to support this so, no, there is no life after death.

4: LOVE: Have you ever been in love with someone you shouldn’t have?

I have always lived in countries where loving someone isn’t a crime and homosexuality is legal. So, no, I’ve never loved someone that I shouldn’t have.

5: CHANGE: tell us three things you would like to change about yourself?

a) I’m impulsive which can sometimes lead to me making bad personal decisions that impact negatively on my life. I would like to have more self control.

b) I give good relationship advice to people but never apply it to my own relationships. I would learn to listen to myself more in matters of love.

c) When someone close to me upsets me I cut them out of my life forever. I want to learn to forgive and forget.
