After 10 years DETOX returned to the club scene in the new Orange Nation club, Covert.

D’Johnny & Per QX lead the beats while an eclectic mix of clubbers and plethora of off duty DJs gathered to pay homage to this former underground Soho club. Both Per & Johnny who were playing back to back and whipped the enthusiastic crowd into a frenzy with some wicked funky, electro and tech inspired house grooves. They played the perfect balance between accessible and underground.

The music was excellent, and we can see why D’Johnny remains one of London’s most loved DJs and Per QX one of London’s more cutting edge….and together they are a force to be reckoned with

The venue itself has a back to basics look. Nothing hi-tech or flashy, just bare brick walls, nicely illuminated bars spaces, two distinct rooms, basic lighting and a good,  if a times, a little ear piercing sound (still working it out I gather). This minimal feel certainly makes it feel more underground, perfect for those slightly off centre clubs like Delooded and Detox. There was a a lot of chatter about the Victorian styled street lights, I mean, what were they thinking? Apart from that we could see there was more work to be done, but we certainly liked the rawness of the venue which means it could be dressed up or down for a variety of clubs.

Unstoppable tracks such as ‘Turbo’ for Cocoon Recordings have supplied suitably heavy ammunition for DJ’s like Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier and Dubfire to tackle their largest festival sets. The patronage of some of the worlds most respected flag bearers has led to bookings and a rapidly growing live show which has recently showcased for amongst others We Love…Space, Bugged Out and Fabric.

Joining resident RALF in the DiscoSlut Room, we welcome back guest DJ ALEJANDRO ASENCIO.

After a few years in London (and parties), Alejandro had landed a job at Azuli Records. He soon became a regular fixture on several disco and house nights and gigs at local and international clubs soon followed (The CAMP, Dalston Superstore, Concrete, Cargo, The Cross, Cinema Bogota, Space Ibiza). At present, he runs Luna 42, a monthly radio broadcast with his Lucky Cloud Sound System crew with whom he also helps set up London’s legendary Loft Parties. He is also behind one of London’s most unique events, Pelucas y Tacones (Wigs N High Heels), a bi-monthly party on its seventh successful year that explores Spain’s dance music and queer counter cultural movements of the last 30 years.

We also welcome guest DJ MISS STRAWBERRY BLONDE for her debut Gutter set.

Icelandic born Fannar (aka Miss Strawberry Blonde) played regularly at the legendary Jolene Bar in Copenhagen. However after a while he got too big for Bikini bottom and Dolly and parted off to London town. Since then has been playing his unique fun-party style ever since making a name on the London club circuit. He’s dished up a fair whack of meat at Vogue Fabrics (Meat magazine 6, soon 7 launch party) and spread his groove in the dark corners of STD bar backstage at after-hours of NYC Downlow, Glastonbury. MISS STRAWBERRY BLONDE says: “My mission is to make it werq behind the decks and for you to make it werq on the floor!”
