Following on from two previous successful Beyond at the Coliseum B2B returned again in October for number III. With torrential rain, terrible weather and no trains, getting people to Vauxhall was going to prove to be difficult.
The crowd that did turn up were a mix bag of Beyond devotees, plenty of nice boys and the effervescent Suzie Krueger of Hard On fame even popped in to give it some from the behind the DJ box.
Fat Tony was in charge of the decks, an unusual choice for the main room where some of his more classic and house tunes fell flat leaving a floor wondering where to go as no other room was open to accommodate the rather smaller crowd. Yes, he place was awash with DJs with no where to play which gave birth to a new duo…
Oliver M was due to go on, and with Brent Nicholls now roomless they decided to give it some back 2 back…and so M&N was born…candy for the dance-floor!
Two familiar styles merged to create a new one with a mix of NuFunk, Eelctro, Progressive and Tech house pumping the crowd up out of Fat Tony’s set. Putting 2 to 3 tracks down each, the combination obviously had an impact as hand went to air several times and sweaty excited clubbers merged towards the DJ to ask what that tune was, or was actually playing.
Beyond back at the Colosseum was like visiting a old friend…it’s good to see the Coliseum back in the gay clubbing fold and Beyond back to where it started albeit it was a Sunday after-hours more so than a Saturday night pumper.
