When we first heard of the death of Salvation promoter Steve Elliott we were taken back. We responded immediately with a FACEBOOK banner in commiseration. We had plenty of interactions with Steve and he will be missed.
This post is a permanent memorial page. We have asked several DJs who worked for Salvation to give us a moment in time they will treasure most about Steve, and they are found below. If you would like to add your memory please CONTACT US.
According to Steve Elliott’s FaceBook page “Hello everyone. Just to let everyone know Steve Elliott died of a blood clot on his lungs. He was working setting up for a party in Austria when he started having trouble breathing he was helped by staff and walked across the road to the doctors where they helped him , after an hour he collapsed and died , 4 fantastic doctors tried for an hour to revive him , but was unable to…..”
EMMA WHITE: “I’ll never forget my first international gig with Salvation in Tignes in the French Alps back in 2007. On the first day me, Steve and Ian took skiing lessons and pretty much laughed our way through the whole thing as one by one we toppled over…. I can still picture Steve’s face coming down the baby hill shouting “Snow Plough!!! Snow Plough!!!!” before he’d take a tumble to the ground – it was hilarious! That was the only day we skied…. After that we were happy to just drink beers on the mountain top or hang out in the hot tub in the glass pyramid leisure centre and watch everyone else do the skiing. We had so much fun, the gig went brilliantly and I knew he was someone I wanted to work with for a very long time….”
PAUL COALS: “In the years that I have known Steve, there have been so many great times that it’s hard to pick just one. With Salvation I’ve been fortunate to play around the world at some fantastic gigs. One that does stick in my mind – as it was so special – was when Salvation featured at Space in Ibiza for Cafe Ole. Playing on the main terrace, the “Sunset Terraza”, was amazing. Steve worked so hard for that and it was great fun to be part of it. We also had a great holiday together.”
PIER MORROCCO: “Two things come to mind… a trip to Bali that was just amazing on every level, where we stayed at a 5 star resort that was the ultimate in relaxation, did boat trips with luxury picnics on board, hiked through jungles, ate amazing food including one dinner for 10 on the beach, lit by huge candles, with the sea lapping at our feet! The gig wasn’t bad either, I remember my then boyfriend bungee-jumping into a pool next to the dancefloor as I played…Steve and I caught his eye as he hit the water, in between the usual jumping up and down in the booth!
The other brilliant moment was in Barcelona at Circuit festival, we’d flown straight in from Stockholm Pride, completely knackered, but it was one of my best ever gigs…we left them screaming for more! Oliver M and I nailed the place, the energy was overwhelming…as was Steve’s mood!”
OLIVER MOHNS: “My most treasured moments with Steve ?? I have many …. Everytime we have had a Salvation party in London or abroad , Steve would be in the Dj booth next to me with the biggest and happiest smile you can imagine. He would also dance and jump with me like crazy behind the decks with his boyish energy…. Steve you will be missed badly xx”
BRENT NICHOLLS: Perhaps I best remember Steve was when we went to Singapore to do a Salvation. His warmth, friendliness, humour and wickedness shone through on the whole trip. It’s hard to believe he has passed…which just goes to show you that every moment that is now could be the last moment, so live it like it is.”
