We were told it was going to be a revolution in clubbing. We were told the venue was going to having a million £ makeover. We were doubtful. We hate when we are right, at least in this context.
BassBoi went to Brava @ Electric full of the hype he was fed. Even SeenQueen.com was lured by the massive amount of press and promises. When BassBoi approached the new ‘Electric’ he found it boarded up as if to defend against the Riots that had swept London only a few weeks before…but what was promised was not delivered. BassBoi reports.
“Upon entering the Electric I knew things werent right. The massive queue for the coatcheck, corridors that led nowhere and added to the congestion while waiting for the coatcheck, bars that sold limited stuff and one, I was told only sold alcohol, the blank canvas that laid before me and a building that was more a warehouse than hi-end clubbing venue and obviously was still not been finished. Scaffolding, boarded off areas and what I assumed were dust sheets, covered the venue. This is a clubbing revolution? If you are going to hype a club make sure it is what you say it is…or we will loose trust in your ability to tell us the truth. The gay scene magazines were praising Brava, were they even there? How do you explain it to the hundreds that went expecting ‘hi-tech’ and all we got was a projection on a big white screen. I could have paid less and went to the movies for that. Don’t get me wrong, the projections were absolutely amazing…but no LED walls, where was the ‘revolutionarly lighting’, unless you think lazers are ‘revolutionary’. We were promised “incredible new technology with an iconic image and cutting edge dance music, Brava heralds the start of a new era of London clubbing”. It was all a little cheap, last minute, recycled, rehashed. I felt ripped off buying into the hype and being delivered a sub standard product. Ripping clubbers off is not revolutionary clubbing…. Is this the statement the Orange Nation wants to make with Brava? Well, here’s one…don’t promise what you can’t deliver’. BASSBOI”
