The popular retro Thursday night REVIVAL will be taking a break as they are moving from Manbar on Tbhu 12.9.2013
According to Brent Nicholls, one of the team behind the night “Revival was doing very well at Manbar, but our direction and the bars direction at times lacked continuity. We started to get a good following, so stopping it now seemed like the best thing to do. Both the host Jonny Hooley and I will put Revival to rest for a while to give us a break. We were there most Thursday nights. We would like to thank guest hosts Glendora and Johnny hollywood for being part of the family as well as guest DJ Tommy Moss”
Host Jonny Hooley recently on Facebook that he will be quite busy over the next few weeks. Involved in the fashion industry outside of the gay scene, with London Fashion week coming up followed by the rest of the worlds fashion weeks, he will too busy, so the thought of Rehab is a welcomed break.
REVIVAL was a unique night on the gay scene mainly because the whole nights playlist was made up from requests from the crowd. Users could select from over 5000 + tunes, and if it wasn’t in this weeks playlist, Brent would download it for next week “as long as it was in the Revival spirit”.
Naturally many Revivalists thought the night had the best music on the gay scene. One of the strong points of the night was “if you didn’t like what you hear, make a request and change it”.
According to Brent “it’s not over until the fat lady sings and she hasn’t even warmed up”.
REVIVAL will take a break so Brent & Jonny can do regroup. They will keep their Facebook page running www.facebook.com/revivalsoho and are hoping, after a respectful time from leaving Manbar, to be filling the air with sweet retro groves again. Watch this space!
